Born in Romania in 1946, Menachem Lavee immigrated to Israel with his parents in 1950.They Settled in Netanya.
In 1966, after completing his army service, he began to study design at the Bezalel Art and Design Academy in Jerusalem. He learned drawing, design and painting
He completed his studies at Bezalel in 1971.
Shortly afterwards, he married a fellow artist, Bracha Brym, subsequently they settled in Jerusalem.
Menachem Lavee worked in environmental, interior and graphic design.
At the late seventies, Menachem worked as a prop designer for the Israeli television and taught interior design and technical drawing.
In1977, Menachem began exhibiting his drawings in one-room shows in Israel and in June 1979 he held a solo exhibit at the Artists House in Jerusalem.
During the lasts decades, Menachem has devoted much of his time working cooperatively with Bracha.Bracha Lavee is a Jerusalem-based artist.Her expressive art combines beloved Biblical symbols with a contemporary visual style. Bracha creates original felt tapestries and limited ediitons of prints, her themes are the Stories of the Bible, Women of the Bible,The Land of the Bible and Jerusalem. Bracha and Menachem Lavee has three children and five granddaughters.
